Ooo. This is a tough one.
When I’m in a fandom it takes a LOT for me to completely disregard it and hate it and shove it to one side. For instance, even though Buffy is 20 years old I STILL get excited by that shit. I’m still in the Harry Potter fandom, purely for nostalgia’s sake, even though I’m not active in many of the conversations because of bullshitteries from both fans and author.
NOTHING will get me to leave the LOTR fandom. Nothing. Ever.
Also, I’m not active in the Sherlock fandom any more (because WHAT – was that last series?!) but I remember the good old days and it still helped me through depression so yeah.
Here be a list of fandoms which either pissed me off or I tapered off from.
5. X-MEN
I saw the first X men film about 6 times at the cinema. I do still adore the X-men but I’m nowhere near as active in following new mutants, or anything like that. I no longer go crazy when I see a new film is coming out. The more recent films pale in comparison to the originals IMO but I haven’t seen Logan so I am going to reserve judgement.
4. DOCTOR WHO
GO AWAY GO AWAY GO AWAY
Now, see, this is a fandom I adored but also… I felt Matt Smith got shit scripts despite being the best doctor, Peter Capaldi’s doctor is far too cold for me, I hated Clara, and it’s taken me three or four years to catch up with his series simply because I know he’s going to regenerate at the end of the current one and finally – without Clara, without 12 – I can maybe get into it again. So I need to be up to speed.
But saying that, I’m really not as excited about it as I used to be. Blame Moffatt? Sure.
3. LOST
Because this show damn well lost its way, basically. Series 3 was my favourite, and I never saw the ending because I was at Uni and had no time for additional confusing narratives. I will always hate Kate and Jack but Sawyer, Desmond, Charlie, Hurley, Sun and Jin…. my babies, I heart you.
2. MERLIN
I still adore Merlin as a series but they fucked up Mordred’s storyline, the ending was rushed, and they’re not bringing him back, so while my admiration and love for Colin Morgan endures, I hardly ever re-watch any of the series just… it was of its time, that’s all.
1. TORCHWOOD
MOTHERFUCKERS KILLED IANTO AND I AM DONE.
Not only did they kill Ianto, they killed him the DAY BEFORE I GRADUATED UNIVERSITY. And in the universe where anyone can be brought back to life, THEY REFUSED. So on the DAY I graduated, still with hope I would come home to see Ianto alive, nope. They killed a kid for the finale instead, and I couldn’t stand Gwen, so when we were left with her gawpy fucking face and child-killer Jack I deserted.
HE EVEN HAS A SHRINE FFS IT’S STILL THERE AFTER 8 YEARS!!!
IANTO DESERVED BETTER #stillbitter
I’m laughing about the Torchwood thing. Ianto did deserve better. SO MUCH BETTER!!
I’m so mad about how the show went, I didn’t mind the shift in story arcs. Just how they treated Ianto.

Yes! It lost its heart the moment it lost Ianto. I was already sick of the gay lovers being killed off and they went and murdered my ultimate plushy baby. And then they assassinated his character in the final episode. Grrr.

Proud slayer on this side too!!! 🙂 🙂
I’ve never been into these fandoms except for Xmen and yes although I will always love the originals and especially my Wolverine and I don’t get as high as I used to, I still consider myself to be very much into that fandom!! 😉

I still love Wolverine. He was the reason I went so many times, but I’m just not into the new ones. It’s like they lost something for me.

For the new ones I am all about Charles and Magneto, but especially Charles. And Wolverine… I still can’t believe I won’t see him again… and with that I mean that if they recast him I am going to abandon the series, as simple as that. There will be no wolverine like Jackman!

Not at all! He was my first major film crush. Aaaaah Jackman ❤

I never liked Kate or Jack either, but Sawyer, Desmond, Charlie, Hurley, Jun, and Sin were my favorites!

I’m glad I’m not the only one who’s eager to see Capaldi leave. He’s a fine actor in other things, but he’s not a great Doctor for me. 😦

Nor me. I felt like I was shoved out of the fandom because I didn’t like him from the start, whereas with Matt Smith I was like “MINE!” the moment I saw him in the role. Also didn’t like Clara, but I hear Bill is lovely!

I’ve heard good things about Bill, too! I didn’t care for Clara. Tennant is still my fave, but Smith was wonderful as well. ❤ ❤

Tennant was my favourite, he’s my 2nd fave – but Smith, for me, was it. No idea why. I loved that goon. ❤

Smith was fantastic, too. Such a great demeanor!

I don’t even know if I ever saw the end of Lost… I honestly don’t think so 😀
Torchwood… I used to love Jack. Even though Ianto was amazing, I felt like the show did more damage than it did good..

Depending on who you listen to, we didn’t miss much!
I used to love Jack too but now he’s just tainted for me. If they brought him back to Who, sure, I’d give him another go

But it’s been so long, I don’t think he would fit in anymore.. although I would like to see some more ‘The Face of Boe’. That was such an awesome twist, I nearly fell out of my seat 😀

Ooooh I love that one! Shame they haven’t revisited it to be honest

I was never in any of these fandoms, but I do know I have been over the X-Men craze since the second movie. Every single one after that just makes me roll my eyes, also what is this thing with all these wolverine movies?

I know! I think everyone is getting fatigued with superhero films which basically follow the same mould

Lost! I was so obsessed with that show. I basically refuse to acknowledge the last season… Season 3 was probably the last good season, although season 4 wasn’t too bad either.

I totally feel your pain with Doctor Who, Capaldi is a great actor but his version of The Doctor is kind of horrible. And yes, I also hated Clara (she’s gone now, don’t worry)! And, I believe this is Capaldi’s last run as The Doctor (thank god).

YES, he is really horrible and angry all the time. I can’t abide it. Clara was too pantomime and I can’t wait to see who they get in next!

I will forever be a hardcore fan of Merlin. What a show. ❤

I actually loved the ending. Or, as much as I could through the tears and heartache.
